Always Lend a Helping Hand...

"Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God." Proverbs 14:31

Just past the hustle and bustle of downtown Tyler resides a community of folks that are often forgotten about. By various unfortunate happenstances, these people live on the fringe of what most people might consider normal. This area has adopted the name "Tent City."

A few weeks ago that the Dynamic Freight Carriers Team was challenged by Owners, JB McCollum and Chad Willingham to find a project that we could work on to serve our community in addition to the company's pledged donation. JB had been contacted by two members of Church Under A Bridge for help. [Church Under A Bridge is a ministry that focus on spreading the Word of God with those displaced Tyler-ites in the downtown area]

We decided that Dynamic Freight Carriers would host a meal of some sort and the DFC Team would try and raise money and items to donate. After some minor discussion, it was the collective decision that serving supper would best be allocated once the season of charity had died down. Cool, right? Well, the DFC Team still had their challenge to contend with. So we put our heads together, did an office collection for some cash, and decided to build “blessing bags”.
With a small budget we knew that items like a single pair of socks, granola bars, a tube of chap-stick, and deodorant were a necessity. We wanted to give these people more. So, what do we do? We go to Facebook. After working up a post describing the conditions and needs of the citizens of Tent City, we posted it. We shared it. Then our friends shared it. Then our friends’ friends shared it. Before we knew it there were hundreds upon hundreds of shares. [A special thanks to one of the Dynamic Ladies for being well networked!]

It was the extensive social media chatter that drew the attention of Taeler De Haes over at KYTX CBS19 here in Tyler. After our story aired on a Friday evening we started receiving donations in the mail and deliveries here at the office. We used this momentum to pull together 60 loaded bags! Not only did we have enough to fill our original bags but we also had enough donations to fill dozens more. All in all we probably collected $2000 worth of items in donations. How awesome is that, y’all!?!

This Tuesday, JB was contacted by the Johnny and Wesley over at Church Under A Bridge and we were invited to join a bible study later that afternoon. Without hesitation, a group of us loaded up and went. After walking down into the area that these folks reside in, the impact really set in. We all concluded that it was one of the more humbling experiences of our lives.

Flash forward to this morning. With our Budget truck loaded down [Thank you, SWAN TRADING POST, for that donation], we headed down under the bridge over on Gentry Parkway just east of Broadway. With the help of the Johnny and Wesley over at Church Under A Bridge for handouts and a KLTV 7 announcement we were able to spread the word give to those in need. What an amazing experience that was! We met and visited with folks, prayed with everyone, and gave out our blessing bags! *Be sure to check out JB and Chad on KLTV 7 tonight at 6pm! Thanks Doug Murray KLTV for coming out!

Just because the holidays are wrapping up doesn’t mean that the need for help will close. So, just like the Dynamic Team was challenged, we all want to challenge YOU! The next time you go to the grocery store, throw a few extra cans in the buggy, perhaps. Maybe grab an extra pack of shaving razors or a small tube of toothpaste. It’s the collective of small gestures that add up to become grand movements. You'll be glad you did, trust us. If you want to donate items through the year, we all HIGHLY encourage you to visit Church Under A Bridge and visit with the great guys and gals over there.

To each and everyone that took the time to donate, Dynamic Freight Carriers thanks you. Again, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

Merry Christmas.

The Gift of Giving

"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give" -W. Churchill.

The Dynamic Freight Carriers' staff has taken on a Christmas project. There is an area in northeast Tyler called 'Tent City' that our company has decided to help out for the holidays. We, at Dynamic, want to make sure that these folks have some of the basic essentials that we all take for granted. In addition to the Owners covering a Christmas meal, the staff wants to add to the equation by building care packages for each of these folks.

So, for the next two weeks, we are accepting socks, gloves, hats, scarves, tooth brush/tooth paste, non perishable snacks, handy wipes, toilet paper, feminine products, lotion, lip balm, deodorant, blankets, new/gently used coats, hand/feet warmers, and first aid supplies.

If you have items you want to donate, let us know! We will be accepting donations at our office and would love to see your face.  You'll be surprised how long $10 in donations can go!

Our driver, John, has been a busy fella since he started with us just two short months ago.  Take a look at some of his snapshots below.  As you can see, we do provide solutions for our drivers to keep their rigs in tip-top shape.  John has been one of the best at keeping his truck at show quality.   We appreciate your dedication to Dynamic Freight Carriers.

Be safe out there, John!

Nathan Bishop, our Dispatch Manager, is a former OTR driver for Dynamic Freight.  While on his travels he made sure to snap a few pictures for those of us who don't get away from the office too much.  Take a look below at some of his handy work.

We appreciate the hard work you do, Nathan!
